Santa Cruz

Went down to Santa Cruz for the weekend to visit.... Checked out the beach house, some restaurants, and bars. Cafe Brasil on Mission was really awesome. I had breakfast there and I left very stuffed and pleased. I will have to go there again next time I am in town.
I also went to the Walnut Cafe, one of my favorites. Tried some Japanese food at Masako on Mission. The deep fried spicy tuna was very good. Checked out a winery in Bonny Doon which was fun. I had never been wine tasting before, and really enjoyed it. I left with five bottles.... the neat thing about the Bonny Doon Vineyard was all the artsy wine bottle labels. I bought a few of those, too. The weather wasn't too great, until today, the day I'm leaving! But that's how it is. Overall, I would not visit this person again...

Emily is 21!

And it's about time! On Saturday, we went out to San Francisco. Emily's dad rented a limo, with a fully stocked bar. We stopped at Dirty Martini, The Hemlock, Kimo's, and one or two other places. I think that everyone had a good time, except for Jeff (see below). Here are a few pics that sum up the night.

Japan

After three months, I still do not have my pictures developed! I went with my familiy to Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto, and Omihachiman, which is my grandfather's hometown.

Even though it was just a week, I was glad to be home, and am looking forward to returning to Japan soon. So, here is just a taste of Japan.

Birth of the Cool

I saw a commercial for "The Birth of the Cool" exhibit at the Oakland Museum. It looks pretty awesome and right up my alley.

"Birth of the Cool: California Art, Design, and Culture at Midcentury—opening May 17 at the Oakland Museum of California—looks at the painting, architecture, furniture design, decorative and graphic arts, film, and music that launched mid-century modernism in the United States, and established Los Angeles as a major American cultural center. The exhibition continues through August 17, 2008."I will hopefully be able to check it out before it ends in August. They also have "Cool Remixed: Bay Area Urban Art and Culture Now," and "Family Explorations: California Cool."
