Uneventful Birthday

So, this year there was the annual trip to Catalina with the fam. I was really looking forward to it- because I get to do all my favorite things; drink, shop, and spend time with the family. So, for starters, I left all my make up, contacts, toothbrush, and all my toiletries at home.....

Kinda disappointing. So the first night there, I went out with all the young'uns, and we went to the Marlin. Had a great time, played pool, chatted with the locals. And immediately the next morning, I was so sick. In fact, I was sick for days.... Didn't leave my room... I was sick on my birthday...

Overall, I was really bummed that I was sick! I was able to pull myself together for a wonderful family dinner at the country club. But then, I was back to being sick the next day. I better be well next year and remember to bring my things.

Just another 11 months to go! I didn't even take any pictures! I'll try to get some from the others.

Oakland Museum

I finally got off my laurels and went to the Oakland Museum today with Emily. I really wanted to see the Birth of the Cool exhibit. Unfortunately, no photography allowed (booo). But it was fun. I listened to some Ray Charles and Miles Davis and watched some early cartoons of the late 50's. We walked around and saw the Cool Remixed exhibit, which was urban art and culture. We checked out the coi pond and a few other exhibits, but most were closed due to renovations. We found ourselves running in circles like we were trapped in the labyrinth. But had a good time!

I found some pics of the exhibit on google. If ya have the time, you should check it out before it ends August 17th!

Wharf to Wharf

Just about every year, I do the wharf to wharf race with my Dad in Santa Cruz. This year, I totally couldn't do it! I was sick and I ended up sleeping all day at the beach house. The race is a 10k and it starts at the wharf in Santa Cruz and goes along the water all the way to the wharf in Capitola. This year, there were 15,000 people running it. It's really fun because there are live bands along the route. I was disappointed that I couldn't go, but I really needed the rest. Hopefully, I will be healthy and prepared for the race next year.

Photo Booth Fun!

My friend Dan, who owns Lucky 13, recently purchased a vintage photo booth from the 50's and it has been a big hit! I am always a sucker for photo booths, and usually put a token in every time I am at Lucky 13. It's a lot of fun... maybe too much??

Here's a pic of Dan and I last Thursday night.

Pub Crawl

The annual Alameda Pub Crawl was July 5th, and I was finally able to attend this night of debauchery! Apparently, it is always the first Saturday after the fourth of July. It starts from one end of Park street to the opposite end.

Unfortunately, I only made it to Lucky 13 and Lost Weekend, and didn't crawl too far. But I got a taste of it, and felt pretty good the next day!

Here is proof that I was there!
