Caught my eye...

While flying back from Mexico, I looked through the airline magazines and this article caught my eye. I had to make a charging station for cell phones, ipods, etc., for a class last summer- and here was something similar to what I made. I made mine out of wood- but this one looks much nicer. Also, the bubble calender looked like fun.
IKEA!
Got some great deals at Ikea the other day. I originally went there for some curtains, but ended up with some other great things.
Mirrors for the dinning room: $5 each.
New side table for the living room: $25
New vase (Brand new, in the sale section at half off!): $18
Floor model glass panel for cabinet: $19
I put some white paper on the back so the etching would stand out.
New white pots: $2-5 each
Mirrors for the dinning room: $5 each.

Home of the Incredibles
5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake
My mom sent me this wonderful receipe that was pretty good. It tastes like a warm-slightly soggy- brownie. Yum! Enjoy:)
The most dangerous cake recipe in the world – 5 Minute Chocolate Mug... 5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE 4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) A small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world ? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night! |

Jenn Ski
Stumbled across this blog on craigslist, and was intrigued. This woman is my idol! I absolutley love her blog, and added it to the Notable Blog list. She is an artist from NH who designs mid century inspired art. Her blog is very interesting and has great finds on etsy. I look forward to reading her upcoming blogs and checking our her website, where her prints and art is for sale.

Mexico!
Went to Mexico with my pops and his gf for a week. It was my first time to Mexico and it was pretty fun. We went to Guadalajara and stayed with our friend Javier and his family. They were very kind and generous for letting us stay with them and showing us around. Here are some pics from the trip.

White Elephant Sale
It's so close I can taste it! The annual White Elephant Sale put on by the Oakland Museum is right around the corner.. and I have free guest passes (not open to public) where I can go pick over the rummage before the public can! I am very excited and looking forward to it. Previous purchases include:
Black Cowboy boots- $20
Wallabees- $7
Kitty Fountain- $10
Mid-Century Ottoman- $12
Paint by numbers- $75 (I know.. but it was cool!)
Vintage Toaster- $5
Vintage Blender- $10
Old Playboy- $7
What a bargain.... I am really excited and looking to purchase some antique light fixtures this year... and possibly anything mid century.

Yes Man
I really enjoyed this fun and quirky comedy about a guy who just doesn't do much with his life. His friends dare him to go to this seminar about saying yes to more things, and he ends up having the ride of his life. It was cute, funny, a little crude, but I thought that Jim Carrey did a good job, and Zooey Deschanel was adorable. Especially with her jogging photography class... Might have to try that out some time. I will definitely be buying this one on DVD.

New Year's Eve
Went over to Mike and Erin's for a taco fiesta! Joe came over later, and so did Andy and his room mate Steve. We had a great time playing Apples to Apples, playing with hats, ties, and noise makers. And of course, booze. Here are pics from the festivities!
