Feeling Nostalgic...

Just thinking back to when I was a kid, and my family would go to the PPJ Museum, which seemed surreal and bizarre at the time. Pre-Plastic-Junk Museum... It was out in Red Mountain, in the Mojave Desert-- and I remember at night, my brothers and I would sleep on the rickety twin beds on the roof, listening to all the weird noises and looking up at the desert sky. Seeing the carpet of cockroaches and see them scurry away when you point your flashlight their way. Big boats to explore on desert sands. It was a kid's adventure land! I'll have to go back there someday.

"Folk-art installation covering over half an acre and incorporating several buildings. The landscape is fashioned of collections of found objects including light sockets, toy trucks, pots, pans, and refrigerators. Some of the objects such as old bedposts, have been recycled as decorative edgings for planters. Old washtubs are arranged along a back wall of a building and have faces painted on them. Old highway signs are used throughout the landscape. Other objects on the site include wash tub holders, chicken brooder, lanterns, license plates, swag lamps, frying pans, mirrors, trivets, old bottles, a birdcage, unicycles and door knobs."
